Bureau Veritas Marine and Offshore hosted a workshop for the European CoPropel project team in Nantes, France.
The this was the third and final public workshop of a series, which took place on 29 April, 2025, offering details about the project’s work to develop innovative advanced composite propellers for the marine industry.
Participants from across industry and academia came together to experience the final leg of the CoPropel journey first hand, witnessing the culmination of our collaborative efforts and achievements.
The use of composites offers a number of benefits for the marine sector, including lighter weight, greater efficiency, and a reduced environmental impact when compared to traditional metal propellers.

The latest results were presented to a large audience including ship owners, those from shipyards, and composite material suppliers.
Sea trials of the propeller took place in March on a small passenger vessel to confirm the advantages offered by composite propellers.
