CoPropel Project Achieves Composite Breakthrough

Tue, 13 May, 2025

We are pleased to announce that Loiretech, working as part of the CoPropel project consortium, have finalised the manufacture of one of the first ever composite propellers made in Europe.

The project consortium have been working to develop and mature technologies for the realisation of marine propellers made from advanced composite materials.

By optimising these propulsion technologies, the project provides:

  • Reduced fuel consumption
  • Reduced noise and vibration
  • Reduced maintenance costs

In addition, this technology allows for the replacement of a single blade, rather than the entire propeller, should damage occur.

This project has received funding from Horizon Europe under grant agreement 101056911 and from Innovate UK under grant agreement 10037872
